about

Shakeh Hagopian (b. 2007) is an Armenian-American surrealist who explores contemporary existential themes and interior psychological landscapes through symbolist imagery. Drawing from early childhood memories in Armenia and her upbringing in rural New England, Hagopian invites viewers into liminal spaces where personal histories dissolve into a dreamy pool of collective memory. She seeks to eternalize feelings of longing, alienation, devotion, and transcendence through her oil paintings and graphite drawings.

Hagopian was fortunate to study under her father, artist Philip Hagopian, who passed down foundational techniques and disciplined methods of draftsmanship. This early mentorship shaped her technical precision while allowing her conceptual voice to emerge independently.
